Chapter Nine
A couple of weeks had passed since I met Chaseâs grandma. During that time Chase was busier than usual at his shop while I worked to tame the lion in my dad. Dad chilled but promised our conversation wasnât over. He was busy closing a new deal on another investment, and as usual, it took precedence over his family. Mom was her usual bitch self, so nothing new there. For now, my family issues were right where they always had been. I was sure Chase wouldnât get brought up again unless I was caught again with him in public.
Chaseâs time alone after seeing his grandma was something I completely understood. This whole illness had to be terribly difficult for him, and until he and I became something more than fuck buddies, then I wasnât going to pry into his personal life.
Lately, we did enjoy each otherâs company outside of the mind blowing sex we shared together. Getting to know Chase better was definitely leading me into wanting a deeper relationship with him. I enjoyed walking hand-in-hand with him in public and openly kissing as if we were a couple. So if that made us something, I was okay with that.
The truth was, I couldnât stop thinking about him and how he was that day with his grandma. On the outside, he was this sexyâkick anyoneâs assâkind of guy, but I saw through to a softer person that day. He had shown me he was more than just a guy that was the god of sex in bed. The way I looked at our relationship now, I was just going with whatever happened with each new day.
In speaking of new daysâ¦I was looking forward to this one. Instead of staying at Chaseâs apartment tonight, I invited him over to my place instead. I just walked in from school, and he was set to arrive in about thirty minutes. I rushed around the home, making sure the towels were out of the dryer and put away, dusting off the bookshelves, making sure the house was picked up and clean. It usually was, especially given that our condo building came with its own housekeeping staff. Also, I was an immaculate and organized personâ¦I could tell this was nervous cleaning, and I needed to just calm the hell down. It was Chase for Godâs sake.
As I folded the just-finished laundry, I thought about the last two weeks with Chase. Chase was sweet in a lot of ways, but he was also kind of hot and cold. One day heâd text me often, and the next, Iâd get short responses. I didnât always mind since I had a lot going on with college right now anyway.
Busy with college or not, here I was daydreaming about him as I folded the last of my clothes. Shit, Allison. What the hell are you going to do? Make it official and date him? God, I was losing my mind over this guy. One minute I was cool; just taking it day by day, whatever happened, happened.
